I will be heading to the fight Saturday and want to get your thoughts on this one. I really dont have a good feel for this one. Is Hopkins too old? Was Taylor lucky last time? Does youth prevail again in this one?

i personally think hoplins can only fight in spurts and the spurts will be even less then in the last fight because he is almost another year older. taylor wins more easily might even stop him if he fights with aggression.

I played Taylor when he opened at +110 knowing the + money wouldn't be around long. I also played Taylor by 12 round decision +205 knowing he won't stop Hopkins.

Now I just have to figure out whether to scalp the plays and make a little either way, or go large on Hopkins with a decent hedge in place

For the record...I lean towards Hopkins getting revenge

Hopkins DOES NOT lose rematches - especially when one can argue he might have won the 1st fight

Get a focused and motivated Hopkins and he will beat ANYONE

who the hell has he had rematches with? mercado, allen, echoles. aside from echoles those guys were garbage. allen was a lower level contender nothing more. mercado a head case. echoles could hit but the rematch was a joke and echoles was on drugs.

Almost looks like a situation when Leonard and Hagler fought years ago. The old man stayed around too long and the younger and quicker fighter's hand and foot speed was the deciding factor.

It is tough to bet on a 40 year old against a young fighter entering the prime of his career. Hopkins has been a great champion but I think he has tried to hang around for too long.

I am taking the younger and quicker fighter in this fight which should start out in a fast pace. I like Taylor to win the fight and execute the Executioner.

Too hard to call but I think this one gets stopped before going the distance if Jermain being the pressure to cause a brawl instead of a boxing match so I'm taking the under 10 1/2 for +210!!!

i hope somebody wins decisively....taylor`s hbo`s boy....i hope merchant calls it a little more objectively...

let me say...i had taylor winning around 7-5....the first time i watched it....i watched it a second time without sound...and i`m not sure that taylor actually won...i mean,he won...more rounds...but,he took a bit of a beating late...

and imo, punchstat is utterly useless....there`s no way to differentiate hard punches...from grazing ,flicking do nothing punches..it`s impossible to count punches..correctly..

anything that`s not a jab is a "power punch".....huh?..isn`t that what they kind of do it in the amateurs?...

judging is subjective...maybe you like volume punching, whether or not the punches do any damage at all...personally,i prefer punches that do some damage...inflict some harm....that`s the idea,imo...to put hurt on the other guy....this isn`t points karate..as i said, that`s subjective..

and i like a guy that finishes stronger...

still,i just thought that hopkins reluctance in the first 7 or eight rounds made it very difficult to give him the fight, despite the way he dominated the final quarter of the fight... it is scored by rounds, after all...hopkins won his rounds with effective aggression...he really hurt taylor....multiple times...in other rounds,he literally did nothing...and he couldn`t finish...didn`t really go for it,imo..

taylor was flailing much of the fight...but,he threw more punches...many more..

again....hopkins won "his" rounds much more impressively...in the rounds he lost,he did next to nothing...he deserved to lose...

was that due to taylor`s early speed?...or hopkins` cockiness..his tendency to start very slow,as a rule...he was almost comatose early vs taylor....or,at 41...maybe he can`t go a full 12 at a decent pace..

was taylor`s late fade due to nerves?...being involved in such a huge fight for the first time?..or does he actually have stamina issues?.....he was hurt significantly late....he`s never been pushed before.....or hurt...even a little........how`s that affect him mentally?....he really finished poorly...on his heels......i don`t know....

i don`t think by judging body language...and his asking for a rematch after being declared the winner, that taylor was convinced that he actually won...

the prefight b.s.,for a change,caught my attention...hopkins...in his usual manner,is predicting a knockout...maybe worse....lol..nothing new there..even though bernard has had trouble finishing as he`s gotten older...and that`s important here...

taylor is saying that this time he`ll win every round.... why not predict that he`ll knock bernard out?...did the late round beating skew his confidence?...doesn`t he think he can stand in with hopkins?... that caught my attention...

the supposedly stronger guy(i don`t buy that)is going to win every round.....not knock bernard out...i don`t think he`s the stronger guy....

i expect hopkins to be rougher..more physical...

but,i think that taylor`s thoughts about out-quicking bernard..out-boxing him......out-pointing him...could be a smart tactical idea...

bernard has trouble with speed..i expect taylor to again win the early rounds...with the jab...with speed...

can hopkins close the show?....he may have to...or at least score some knockdowns...and no bouie fisher...that has to hurt...

and the elephant standing in the middle of the room?.....hopkins` age....

whew....tough call....

i have hopkins in several parlays....getting some odds...so i will probably hedge taylor by decision at +170..of course, that`s "12 round decision"...so if it goes to the cards becaue of a butt,it`s a loser...

i think, unlike taylor, hopkins will have to win convincingly to get a decision...because of the perception that taylor is "the future"...and his flashy volume punching and speed...might be a case of style over substance...

again, tough call..tough to step out on this fight...to many ????

if taylor`s odds go much higher...and i doubt they will to much farther,i`ll grab some more bernard...

but,like i said,not a step out fight..

hopkins has to hit the wall at some point....i think 5 years ago,he stops taylor....but,the age makes it very hard to back him with any real conviction...

hopkins win a great fight ... then fights 4-5 bums and makes 20 mil

then fights Taylor for another 20mil and gets KO'd...

that's my take on it.... it's boxing--- it's always about the cash:money:

I don't know, I keep having a vision of Taylor pummeling Hopkins on the ropes and the referee stopping the fight. I need to look for a good price for Taylor to win by KO, TKO or inside the distance.
